Show Notes:

Devon Ponds and Ben Sabin, two industry veterans, founded Friends and Allies Brewing in mid-2015. With Head Brewer Nathan Crane, formerly of Port Brewing/The Lost Abbey, on the stand they expertly combine West Coast brewing techniques, standards and practices with the vibrant and eclectic east Austin culture, delivering a fresh, high-quality, unique local beer to a growing, influential, passionate community.

Friends and Allies proudly self-distributes all of it's product in the Austin area, believing that personal relationships with customers and the community are the best way to provide consistent, fresh, and enjoyable beer.

Friends and Allies Brewing Company’s primary production facility and tasting room is located in the heart of East Austin on 979 Springdale Rd. It is adjacent to Austin Eastcider’s upcoming Experimental Facility and the Austin Bouldering Project, the largest bouldering gym in North America.

Next week, local cidery Austin Eastciders will open its first public tasting room on the east side. It’ll be found at the original cider facility at 979 Springdale Road, Suite 130. The opening will be held on Thursday, November 16.

The new 1,960-square-foot tasting room will serve signature flavors (original, hopped, Texas honey, pineapple, and blood orange), as well as unreleased options like cucumber and grapefruit. There will also be a dog-friendly patio with cornhole, darts, and board games.

Dubbed a “collaboratory” (collaborative laboratory), the company hopes to experiment with special releases, as well as host weekly events with the creative community. The collaboratory program will start with a live music partnership with Drunk Luck.

The tasting room will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 3 to 10 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 10 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.

The tasting room will be managed by Marc Brenton Smith, a sommelier who spent time at Parkside, now-shuttered Restaurant Jezebel, and the Hotel Granduca in Austin. Last summer, Austin Eastciders opened a second cidery in far South Austin to amp up its production.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our #BraveryIPA Release Party last week! We sure enjoyed sharing a pint with you. For those of you who weren't able to make it, some tasting notes for this delicious brew are as follows. This 6.8% Red IPA is characterized by notes of melons, tropical fruit, caramelization and pine. It is double dry-hopped with Huell Melon, Saphir, and Simcoe hops. #BraveryIPA will be available in our taproom for a limited time, so be sure to stop in and check it out!
